Leaf Spring

The leaf spring is one of the oldest types of spring, used since mediaeval times. It's the familiar type used on wheeled vehicles, made up of one or more slender arc–shaped lengths of spring steel, stacked on top of each other in several layers, often with progressively shorter leaves. The centre of the spring is attached to the axle, and each end is attached to the chassis.
